Ann M. Bruhn, BSDH, MS is Associate Professor and Chair of the Gene W. Hirschfeld School of Dental Hygiene (SODH) at Old Dominion University (ODU). Bruhn is a frequent contributor to many peer reviewed journals, has one published textbook, and has published several textbook chapters. She has been in academia full time since 2010, where she has taught and currently teaches Oral Radiology I and II as well as dental hygiene clinical services to junior and senior dental hygiene students. In addition, Bruhn has taught continuing education courses to dental professionals in the subject areas of dental radiation safety, local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation, and Disaster Victim Identification and the role of the dental hygienist. She has been in an administrative role as Chair of the SODH for two years while maintaining teaching, service and research roles within the department. Bruhn has received funding and published research on innovative strategies for the exposure of high-quality radiographic images by dental professionals on post-mortem remains in mass fatality events. She is a passionate and enthusiastic educator with the goal to educate skilled, competent and ethical clinicians.
